After a dare by friend Tiny Broadwick, Tom made his first jump static line in 1913 out of a hot air balloon. He's been in the air ever since. In 1940 after a brief stint as a paratrooper General in World War II, he moved to Kansas City and earned several World Records in Canopy relative work competition. Since no one wanted the job of being the asshole dropzone owner, Tom volunteer, signed his soul over to the devil, and bought Missouri River Valley Skydivers drop zone. He has managed it ever since, occasionally unlocking his ball and chain to make a skydive in a pink jumpsuit with fellow dzos.

I'm a retired Army Aviator and mad my first jump during Army airborne trianing in 1974. I was hooked and had to learn to skydive. I accomplished that in the same year also making my first freefall skydive in 1974. I flew helicopter's in the Army for 20 years and continue now working as a contractor in support of training our troops. But, my real enjoyment comes from sharing my love of skydiving with new students. The most fun was sharing that love with my daughter, who made her first skydive in 2006.

I have spent most of my life at the Drop Zone! Started packing main canopies when I was 8 years old! How many have I packed? More than I care to consider! Worked in the Loft during the summer months doing equipment maintenance and relining canopies. Attended the First Jump Course at age 16, became a USPA member and made several Freefall jumps, Got my FAA Senior Parachute Riggers certificate in 2005.

In 1994, I made my first two (static line) skydives in Kansas City as a way to get back into the air after my Dad, who was a private pilot, quit flying after 25 years. In 1995, 13 months later, after a knee injury (playing Soccer), surgery, and rehabilitation of the knee, I returned to feed my love of flying. I had found that flying the parachute was just as fun (if not more so) than just flying in an Airplane. After another 6 jumps (and a couple of very good instructors) I found out that the freefall was body flight, and not just falling. Although these first several freefalls were short, it made me determined to continue and reach higher altitudes and more freefall time. It only took a few more jumps and I was hooked for life.

Skydiving is, in my opinion, the great escape from the rat race. It's filled with a group of the most fun people, from all walks of life that I've ever encountered.

Favorite quote: Much talking is the cause of danger. Silence is the means of avoiding misfortune. The talkative parrot is shut up in a cage. Other birds, without speech, fly freely about.   — Saskya Pandita
